Terry, I just spent an hour going over your Math booklet. This is such a practical and comprehensive approach to math and journaling. I have heard a lot about "math prompts" and thought they were all unrealistic and did not have any real objective in mind. I can use every Math Prompt I read in your booklet. The way you have your math centers set up for rotation is awesome! I never thought of that! I also like how you justify everything in your math centers by objectives and the NCTM Standards. "I love your book! It is filled with some terrific ideas and I can't wait to use them this year. I already do math journals but you had some great problem starters that I will incorporate during math time. They will make a great connection to the Exemplars we do as an assessment piece for the county. Our math coordinator shared a great phrase to use when doing math journals. She called the illustrations "math pictures" and explained to the children that they were different than journal illustrations because they didn't need all of the details. I used her catch phrase last year and it really helped.

Originally a farming community, North Plainfield was settled in the 17th century.
